Today, 49 years ago, was the last day of dictatorship in our country! The longed-for freedom was finally achieved!
On April 25th 1974 the April Revolution or Carnation Revolution took place. Repression and lack of freedom came to an end and the long awaited democracy arrived! On April 25th 1975, the Portuguese people had their first free vote in many decades.
Within the scope of the History and Geography of Portugal and History lessons of the 7th and 9th graders, the teachers asked the students to carry out research on the importance of this date and to develop projects about the revolution.
Moreover, a postcard regarding the 49th anniversary of the April Revolution was edited by the student Leonor Campelo, 9thA.
Today and always ” There is only real freedom when there is
Freedom to change and to decide
When what the people produce belongs to the people”.
Freedom
We come with the weight of the past and of the seed
Awaiting so many years makes everything more urgent
And the thirst for waiting is only quenched in the stream
And the thirst for waiting is only quenched in the stream
We have lived so many years talking in whispers
One can only want everything when one has had nothing
Only those who have had life at a standstill want life full
Only those who have had life at a standstill want life full
There
There’s only real freedom when there’s
Peace, bread and a home
Health education
There’s only real freedom when there’s
Freedom to change and to decide
When what the people produce belongs to the people
When what the people produce belongs to the people.
